About Regional Travel

Reagan Mass Transit District is here to assist with getting people where they need to go with the use of publicly supported transportation, including bus and rail. As you view the pages of this site to learn more about regional travel, you will find information on affordable public transportation at the community and county level.

We provide additional information on how you can take advantage of available Greyhound Bus service, including current Greyhound Connect routes along Interstate 88 from Chicago to Davenport, Iowa. This also includes a new service that runs from Chicago to Danville, IL via I-90, I-39, and I-74 with stops in Elgin, Rockford, Rochelle, Oglesby, Bloomington-Normal, and Champaign.

In the near future, this site will provide additional transit resource information, including connections to Amtrak service.

About Regional Travel: Why RMTD?

The Reagan Mass Transit District is designed to capture local and regional travel as well as national transportation resources that can be used by residents here in the Land of Lincoln. These options go beyond bus transportation and include connections to train and airplane services.

For those with limited resources or who wish to minimize the impact on the environment, public transportation, including Greyhound Connect, is a great resource. If there isn’t a local stop for Greyhound, check with your local county public transportation provider, as they are likely aware of how to connect with Greyhound. In the future, the Reagan Mass Transit District site will have an interactive map that shows the various public transportation options throughout the state – from local transit to Greyhound, Amtrak, and even local and regional airports.
