Reagan Mass Transit District Funding Overview

This federal funding stream
provides operational
and administrative􀆟 funds
for two (2) Intercity Bus
Routes (I-88 and I-39), both
of which are currently
operated by Greyhound
Bus Lines. Reagan MTD serves
as admin and fiscal agent.

5311 federal funding is
an allocation passed
through to Reagan MTD from
the Illinois Department
of Transportation for the
support of local public
transportation operation
& administration. Funding
amount is spent down
within the first quarter
of the Fiscal Year.

Downstate Operating
Assistance Program is
state funding supporting
Reagan MTD’s admin and
operational expenses. This
funding, also provided by
the Illinois Department of
Transportation, can increase
by 10% annually provided
the allocation is spent down
by public transit.

Various locally
generated funding
(e.g., service contracts)
provides another layer
of funding to Reagan MTD to
cover both admin and
operational expenses
Funds generated can
usually be carried over
to next fiscal year.
