Chaperone

Reagan Mass Transit District Welcomes Medical Chaperones for Health Care Trips

Our chaperone service is especially helpful for individuals who may need physical assistance, support, or help communicating with health care providers. Chaperones can be a family member, friend, caregiver, or personal assistant—anyone the rider trusts to accompany them on the trip. By allowing medical chaperones to ride free of charge, Reagan MTD helps reduce barriers to care and ensures that passengers feel safe and supported throughout their journey.

Only one chaperone on Reagan MTD is allowed per rider. Riders are encouraged to plan ahead by confirming arrangements for medical chaperones when booking transportation. When scheduling your ride to a medical appointment, please make dispatch aware that a chaperone will need to ride along with you to the appointment. There is no charge for medical chaperones.

Reagan Mass Transit District is committed to providing safe, accessible, and inclusive transportation options for all riders. The medical chaperone service reflects this commitment: we recognize that some passengers may need additional support during their trip. Companions help to navigate a clinic, offe emotional reassurance, and ease anxiety. They play an important role in a rider’s journey.

Whether traveling across town or just a few miles, Reagan MTD is here to make access to health care easier.

Please be aware that this policy is in effect for local riders only. Greyhound’s policies regarding chaperones differ. For additional information, please contact Reagan MTD Dispatch at (815) 288-2117 or (888) 239-9228..
